You might just be starting to explore someone’s profile. Or you may already be chatting. Nudge is here to gently encourage a little more interaction. Let’s dive into what Nudge is, how it works, and how you can use it to enhance your dating experience.
What Is Nudge?
Nudge is a simple, anonymous, friendly tool that lets you express interest and encourage someone to take the next step. Right now, you can use Nudge to ask someone you’re interested in to:
- Upload a profile photo – A picture is worth a thousand words. This helps you get a better sense of who they are.
- Update their profile description – A little more info can spark curiosity and conversation.
- Take the personality test – Our free personality test reveals fun insights. This nudge invites them to share theirs with you.
And here’s the exciting part: in an upcoming release, Nudge will expand. It will allow you to prompt someone you’re already talking with to start or continue the conversation. It’s a subtle way to keep the chat flowing without feeling pushy.
Why Use Nudge?
We get it—starting a connection online can sometimes feel tricky. Maybe you’ve matched with someone whose profile caught your eye, but it’s missing a photo or a description. Or you’re mid-conversation, and it’s slowed down. Nudge is designed to break those barriers in a lighthearted, respectful way. It’s like saying, “Hey, I’m interested—let’s take this a step further!”
Plus, Nudge aligns with Swept Dating’s mission of intentional dating. Instead of endless swiping or ghosting, it encourages users to engage thoughtfully and build genuine connections.
How to Use Nudge
Using Nudge is super easy! Here’s how it works:
Find Someone You’re Interested In
Browse profiles as usual. If you spot someone you like but notice their profile can use a little more detail, Nudge is your go-to.
Tap the Nudge Option
On their profile details, look for the Nudge button (it’s hard to miss). You’ll see it when:
- The user does not have any profile photos. Find the nudge button in the upper right corner of the default image placeholder.
- The user hasn’t typed in a description for themselves, their match, or ideal 1st date. You’ll find the nudge button in the upper right corner of the description card.
- The user hasn’t taken the personality test. You’ll find the nudge button on in the upper right corner next to the personality test title.
They’ll get a Friendly Notification that someone is interested in them uploading a photo, updating a description, and/or taking a personality test.
Coming Soon: Conversation Nudges
In our next update, if you’re chatting with someone and want to keep the momentum going, you’ll be capable of sending a Nudge like, “I’d love to hear more from you!” Stay tuned for this feature—it’s going to make keeping conversations alive even easier.
Tips for Using Nudge Effectively
- Follow Up: If they act on your Nudge—like uploading a photo or taking the test—be sure to react. Give them a thumbs up!
- You can only send one nudge per type: To keep the user from being overwhelmed, we limit nudge types (photo, description, personality test) to one per user.
