An Important Update About Identity Verification on Swept Dating

Dear Swept Community,

I hope you’re doing well and finding meaningful connections on Swept Dating. I’m reaching out personally to share an important update about the direction of our platform, the safety of our community, and the standards we’re committed to upholding as we move into 2026.

Over the past year, the dating landscape has shifted dramatically. New state and national safety laws—introduced in Texas, Utah, Louisiana, and emerging across the U.S. and U.K.—are raising the bar for identity verification, age assurance, and authenticity in online dating. These changes are long overdue, and Swept Dating has always been fully aligned with their intent.

What’s Changing

Beginning in early 2026, users living in Texas, Utah, and Louisiana will be required to complete mandatory photo and age verification to sign-up for, and continue to use, Swept Dating. This is in direct response to new state laws designed to protect online dating participants and ensure genuine identities.

Later in 2026, this requirement will expand to all users worldwide. Once the policy goes into effect, each user will have 90 days to finish verification. Accounts that do not finish these steps within the allotted window will be temporarily deactivated until verification is finished.

We’ll also be leveraging app store-supported verification technologies. Apple, Google, and others will start releasing secure tools to help confirm a user’s age without compromising their privacy. When these technologies become available, we’ll integrate them seamlessly into the Swept Dating experience.

Why We’re Doing This

Swept Dating was built for people who want real, intentional, and trustworthy connections. That mission has always come first.

But we also know the reality of modern dating:

  • Too many people misrepresent their age.
  • Too many hide behind old or misleading photos.
  • Too many users endure ghosting, breadcrumbing, and behavior that thrives in anonymity.
  • Too many people continue to be defrauded by criminals on dating platforms.

You deserve an environment where you can genuinely trust the profile on the other side of the screen. Identity and age verification is a major step toward delivering that experience. One where authenticity isn’t optional, but expected.

What This Means for You

We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible:

  • Current users will get multiple reminders before the 90-day window begins.
  • Verification will be fast, secure, and private.
  • Your data will be protected using industry-leading security and encrypted storage.
  • Each user will be given an identity verification credit at no cost. This can be used to verify your profile and photos.
  • Once verified, your profile will show a badge that proves you are exactly who you say you are—age, identity, and photos included.

Our Commitment to Trusted Connections

Swept was founded to fix what’s broken in online dating: the lack of transparency, the emotional games, and the uncertainty around who you’re really talking to. This next phase isn’t just about legal compliance—it’s about upholding the culture of trust we’re building together.

By ensuring every profile is real, verified, and authentic, we’re creating the kind of dating environment people have been requesting for years: safer, clearer, more respectful, and more human.

Thank you for being part of the Swept Dating community and for believing in what we’re building. Your trust is everything to us, and these updates are designed to honor that trust. both now and into the future.

If you have questions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you.

With appreciation,
Rob Kennedy
